To leave your lock or not

A selection of resident bike locks at the University of Tasmania Clinical School in Hobart

A sure sign of more people riding to a work place is the collection of semi permanent bike locks which start appearing at popular bike racks. If you leave your bike in the same location everyday it makes sense to have a decent quality lock that you don’t have to lug around with you. A good quality D-Lock might weight over 500g so it makes sense to leave it in one place and carry a smaller lock for short stop overs around the place. RIDE ON Magazine which comes with Bicycle Tasmania membership has just tested out a whole bunch of locks to see which are the ones to keep your bike secure: http://rideons.wordpress.com/2011/10/04/locks-test-2011/
