Stefan from Vancouver, with his neat touring bike. Stefan rode the loop round Tasmania earlier this year, congrats. Really like the discs all round, and everyone’s favourite panniers, Ortliebs.

By the way, what model is Stefan’s bike?
I’ve had a look at the ultralight blog, and I take more stuff than that to work!
Stefan’s bike is a Salsa bikes Vaya 2.
Thanks Kathy. The ultralight blog just presents one end of the spectrum, which may inspire some to tour with less weight. As for Stefan’s bike; the Vaya 2 comes as a compact geared bike, which would be a bit light on for most of us on a Giro d’Tasmania. So is the triple a retrofit, and if so, what gearing is it?
My Vaya 1 came with a double chainring & was found to be unsuitable for loaded touring so I ditched the lot & put on a Rohloff hub with a 44 tooth chain ring which is a lot better, Vaya 2 s come with a triple
